Carolyn Faye Douglas, 79, of Harriman, Tennessee, went home to be with her Lord on June 24, 2026.
Born on January 3, 1947, in Alva, Kentucky, Carolyn was the beloved daughter of the late Ray Dodd and Reba Sutton Dodd. She built a life centered on faith, family, kindness, and service, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew her. Carolyn was the devoted wife of E.S. "Steve" Douglas, with whom she shared a lifetime of love, faith, and quiet companionship. Some of her happiest moments were the simple ones - spending peaceful evenings beside Steve, each with a book in hand, enjoying one another's company.
She retired after 18 years as a cafeteria worker at Harriman High School, where she faithfully served generations of students with the same warmth and kindness that defined every part of her life.
A lifelong woman of faith, Carolyn faithfully served her church throughout her life. She lived by the example of the Proverbs 31 woman, demonstrating humility, compassion, strength, and unwavering devotion to God and to those around her. She was known for speaking kindly of others, offering encouragement instead of criticism, and quietly living out her faith every day.
Carolyn found joy in gardening and in sharing the fruits of her labor with others. She became especially well known for her homemade dill pickles, making enough each season to supply family, friends, and neighbors across several counties. To receive a jar of Carolyn's pickles was to receive a gift made with love. Above all else, Carolyn treasured her family. To her, family was never defined solely by blood. Anyone fortunate enough to be welcomed into her life quickly became family, and She loved them with all her heart. Her home, her table, and her heart were always open to others.
She is survived by her loving husband, E.S. "Steve" Douglas; her sons, Josh Douglas and his wife, Toni, Kent Douglas and his wife, Lynn; her sisters, Margaret Sinard and Kathy Deputy; her grandchildren, Tabitha Douglas, Stephen Douglas, Stephanie Douglas, Matthew Weaver, Jonathan Causey, Axton Douglas, and Sawyer Douglas; her great-grandchildren, Danica Douglas and Althena Douglas; along with many extended family members and countless friends whose lives were enriched by her love and friendship. In addition to her parents, Ray Dodd and Reba Sutton Dodd, Carolyn was preceded in death by those who went before her into eternal life.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 30, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Childs Memorial Baptist Church in Harriman, Tennessee. Funeral services will follow from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m., with burial immediately afterward in the church cemetery.
Although Carolyn will be deeply missed, those who knew and loved her find comfort in knowing that her faith has become sight. Her legacy of unwavering love, gentle kindness, Steadfast faith, and devotion to family will live on through all who were blessed to know her.
Davis Funeral Home in Harriman is honored to serve the family of Carolyn Faye Douglas.
