Mr. Charles "Charlie" Edmonds, age 70 of Harriman passed away June 27, 2026, at his home. He worked for Harriman Street Department for many years. He was an avid UT fan. Charles was known to most around town simply as "Charlie", "Bill" or "CB", was many things and perhaps that's the best way to remember him, not as a perfect man, but as a real one. He was tough yet tender, stubborn yet caring, serious about the things that mattered and wonderfully silly when it came to the people he loved.
He had a wit that could lighten even the heaviest room. His joked came effortlessly, and if you were lucky enough to hear his unmistakable giggle to see his infectious smile, you probably found yourself laughing right along with him. He had a gift for bringing joy to those around him, even when life wasn't always kind to him.
His life was not always easy. Those experiences sometimes made him a hard man, stubborn beyond measure, and frustrating. But beneath that tough exterior was a heart that cared deeply for the people he loved. If you were part of his circle, you knew you mattered to him.
He was an emotional man, even if he didn't always show it in obvious ways. When he spoke about something he believed in or someone he loved, his eyes would well with tears. those moments revealed the depth of his heart more than words ever could.
His stubbornness became one of his defining traits, It frustrated us, made us laugh, and ultimately helped him fight his battle far longer than many thought possible. He refused to give up, because that is simply who he was.
He wasn't a perfect man, and he never pretended to be. But perfection isn't what made him special;. For a few of us, he was exactly what we needed; a Dad whose love was shown in his own unique way, a Papaw whose laughter will echo in our memories, and a friend whose presence leaves a space that can never truly be filled.
Rest easy, Dad. We'll carry your smile, your strength, and your love with us for the rest of our lives.
