James Larry Cox

Mr. James Larry Cox, age 74 of the Mossy Grove community, passed away Tuesday June 23, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was a loving husband, Dad, and Papaw. Larry was a veteran of the United States Army and was a long-haul truck driver for over 50 years. He was a member of the Harriman Baptist Tabernacle and often attended Meadowview Baptist Church. Larry also served as a missionary with the Rock of Ages Prison Ministry for several years.

He is proceeded in death by his parents: Fate Jr. and Edith Cox.

One daughter: Melissa Cox.

One brother: Gary Cox.

And one grandson: Justin Cox

He is survived by his wife of 56 years: Linda Davis Cox.

His children and their spouses: Stacy and Paige Cox, Tammy and Jason Patterson, April and Shane Newport.

His two adopted daughters/granddaughters: Haley Cox and Brianna Cox.

Eight grandchildren: Regan Cofer (Christian), Payton Melton, Gracelyn Newport, Olivia, Elliot, Travis, and Alex Patterson, and Tyler Bryant (Kayla).

Seven great grandchildren: Emery Johnson, Rori Cox, Reece Potter, Wren Cox, Amelia Cofer, Lauren Cofer, and Emma Mize.

One brother and sister-in-law: Richard and Rhonda Cox of Wartburg.

Two sisters and brothers-in-law: Wanda and Robert Burgess of Petros and Marcella and Jr McPherson of Wartburg.

The family will receive friends Saturday June 27, 2026, at Davis Funeral Home, Wartburg from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm with Rev. Jeff Parrott and Rev. Randy Griffis officiating. Interment will follow in Mossy Grove Cemetery.
