Keith Edward Williford

December 5, 1959 — November 11, 2023

Harriman

Mr. Keith Edward Williford, 63, of Harriman passed away November 11, 2023, at Diversicare in Oakridge. He was a member of the Baptist Tabernacle in Rockwood.

Keith was born December 5, 1959, and grew up in Harriman, TN, where he chose to live his entire life. He attended school at Bowers Elementary, South Harriman Junior High and Harriman High School.

Keith was always into speed. Even as a child, he and his dad were always tinkering on numerous projects to build better engines. They began with a bicycle, then moving on to go carts and eventually, cars – their master project.

Keith’s hang out, as well as ALL the neighborhood kids, was at the corner of Jett Valley Road. They gathered most evenings after school and daily while on summer break. They would race down Child’s Memorial Hill, especially in the snow and surprisingly no major injuries. The group frequently walked to Gooch’s store to buy candy and drinks. They would bring them back to the corner and hang out under the shade trees. He even passed this tradition down to his daughters.

Keith worked at Harrold & Parrott IGA and Burlington Industries for many years. Then he obtained the job he loved, as a mechanic, at Goldston’s Gulf. He worked there 16 years before becoming disabled. Even after he was no longer working there it was his favorite place to go hang out or "loaf around" as he would say it. They were always good to him.

Seven years ago, his wife of 28 long years, came to need full-time medical care and Keith became her primary caregiver. Three years ago, he was diagnosed with lung cancer, but he didn’t give up.  He pushed forward on this difficult journey, while still caring for his wife for 7 years, 3 of those while also fighting his cancer. He was a proud man and he fought hard. And he lived and did right by the Lord.

He was a God-fearing man who loved his family dearly.  Keith loved God and professed his faith in Jesus Christ.

He was an amazing father to Amanda and Christy and even more amazing to Colt and Kymber as a papaw.

He will be missed by many and all who he touched. His smile was full of light and was contagious.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Jack E & Barbara Mullins Williford.

Grandparents: Anderson & Ella Williford and Lloyd Clay & Mary S. Chitwood and Allen Mullins

He is survived by his wife: Freida Reed Williford.

2 daughters: Amanda & husband Donny Nevins and Christy Williford.
