Larry Wayne Owen

Mr. Larry Wayne Owen, age 84 of Oak Ridge, passed away peacefully on Sunday June 28, 2026, surrounded by his family. Larry was employed with Union Carbide, now referred to as Oak Ridge National Lab, for 47 years, and minus his major heart surgery he never missed a day of work. He loved his job doing research at the lab and making it his true calling. He was also a Professor at the University of Georgia from 1970 till 1972 teaching Physics. Larry was a kind, compassionate, caring person. He was the best dad and papaw. Always willing to lend a hand wherever needed. Larry has left this world but the memories he left behind will be cherished forever by his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years: Peggy Owen, whom he lovingly and affectionately referred to as his Precious Angel.

And his parents: John and Eloise Owen.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law: Kimberly and Jim Martin.

His son and daughter-in-law: Victor and Theresa Owen.

His grandchildren: Jacob (Brooke) Owen, Joshua (Erin Armes) Owen, and Jordan (Hope) Hamby.

And three great grandchildren: Emerson and Hudson Hamby, and Oliva Owen.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday July 1, 2026, at 1:00 PM in Russell Memorial Cemetery in Lebanon, Virginia.
