Mary Lou (Gillis) Cook of Harriman passed away Thursday, May 7, 2026, at the age of 90, surrounded by the love of her family.
Mary Lou will be remembered for her kindness, strength, and the warmth she shared with everyone who knew her. She lived a life devoted to family, friendship, and caring for others, leaving behind countless cherished memories. She especially enjoyed reading and crocheting, hobbies that reflected her gentle and caring nature.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years: Jim Cook.
Parents: William & Kate Gillis
Three sisters: Blanche Bell, Betty Cook, and Willie Marshall
Brother: Bob Gillis.
She is survived by her loving children, Daryl Cook and Jan (Cook) McKamey.
Her cherished grandchild: Breeana McKamey.
Sister: Eustine Humphreys.
Brother: J.C. Gillis
And many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of NHC Farragut and Caris Healthcare for their compassionate care, and to private caregivers Dianne Taylor and Jodi Taylor for their kindness, dedication, and support.
A graveside service will be held Monday, May 11, at 2:00 p.m. at Roane Memorial Gardens with Bro. Cal Adams officiating. Family and friends are welcome to meet at Davis Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. for the procession.
Mary Lou touched many lives through her gentle spirit and generous heart. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
