Mrs. Mary Lou Dunn, of Wartburg, left her earthly home to be in the presence of her Lord and Savior Friday, May 2, 2025, after being bedridden for many long years. "Don't weep for me, for I have gone to dwell with my Lord, and walk the streets of Heaven out of my earthly pain". Mary was the eighth child of ten born to William Bradford and Maggie Mitchell. Mary Lou was born on the 13th day of December, 1939 in Rockholds, Kentucky. Mary, and her siblings that were living at home, moved with their parents to Oak Ridge to start a new life. She attended Oak Ridge schools, then married and gave birth to three boys and three girls. For a period of time, Mary Lou operated her own diner called Mary's Diner in the Dyllis community of Oliver Springs.
Mary was saved at a young age and was a long-time member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Oliver Springs. She attended Monday night youth meetings, and alongside her mother would sing special songs in church while playing the piano or her accordion. Mary Lou loved the Lord, even while being unable to get out of a hospital bed, she still had a vision of getting better, and out of that bed to serve the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Brad and Maggie Mitchell.
Four grandchildren: Jason Griffith, Brandon, Miranda, and Anthony Shoffner.
Her mother-in-law: Ernestine Dunn.
Four brothers: Paul, Bill, Lee, and Joe Mitchell.
Four sisters: Lena Rickett, Margie Hackworth, Phyllis Jackson, and Rhonda Jones.
